What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that involves inserting thin, single use, sterile needles into specific points on the body to stimulate natural healing.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Acupuncture is generally painless, although you may feel a slight sensation when the needles are inserted. Most people find the experience relaxing and comfortable.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Number of sessions needed varies depending on the condition being treated and the individual’s response to acupuncture. Some people experience relief after just one session, while others may require multiple sessions for optimal results.

Is Acupuncture Safe?

Acupuncture is safe when performed by a trained and licensed practitioner. Some people may experience minor side effects such as soreness, bruising, or slight bleeding at the needle insertion sites, but these typically resolve quickly.

How Should I Prepare for my Treatment?

It’s recommended to eat a light meal before your appointment and avoid consuming alcohol or caffeine. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the areas where the needles will be inserted.

Who Can Get Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is generally safe for most people, but there are certain conditions and situations where it may not be recommended. Pregnant women, individuals with bleeding disorders, and those with pacemakers should consult with their healthcare provider before receiving acupuncture.

What can Acupuncture Help With?

Here are some conditions that acupuncture is commonly used to treat, supported by reputable sources such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH):
1. Pain Management
2. Nausea and Vomiting
3. Migraines and Tension Headaches
4. Menstrual Cramps and Menopausal Symptoms
5. Allergic Rhinitis
6. Digestive Disorders
7. Anxiety and Depression
8. Insomnia
9. Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
10. Infertility

It’s important to note that while acupuncture can be beneficial for these conditions, individual responses to treatment may vary, and it’s always best to consult with a qualified healthcare provider before starting acupuncture therapy.
